Customer Story: Back on the road to help beat Covid

Remember the days we took toilet paper, hand sanitiser and pasta for granted? Over the past few months we’ve seen so-called essential items wiped from aisle shelves across Australia, thanks to (you guessed it) COVID-19.

But tonnes of work is being done behind the scenes to restock our creature comforts. Wayne Leviston, owner of WM&C Transport, is one of many individuals supporting Australia through this tough time. He transports chemical goods—including those used in the production of hand sanitiser—across Western Australia.

A typical working day for Wayne sees him waking up early at 5am, and travelling across the state to visit customers. He wraps up sometime in the evening, around 6pm. Wayne loves being on the road, and initially gravitated towards the transportation industry because he felt it was an area in which he could excel.

“I’m naturally a self-starter—I didn’t want to work for anyone else.”

But in the midst of his efforts to keep Australians healthy, Wayne’s truck caught on fire, leaving him unable to transport goods. He knew he needed to get back on the road as soon as possible, not only to keep his business afloat but to help Australians beat COVID-19.

In seeking a speedy solution, he called Valiant and spoke with our lending specialist, Lewis, to find out what his options were.

Lewis and Wayne came to the conclusion that a chattel mortgage would be the best fit for Wayne’s needs. A chattel mortgage is a type of equipment finance, often used for financing vehicles and machinery. Lewis was able to help Wayne secure a total of $60k to purchase his new set of wheels.

Wayne commended Lewis on being so helpful and polite, and was impressed by the fast and friendly service he received from his initial enquiry through to settlement. He would not hesitate to recommend Valiant to other business owners needing cash quickly, or get in touch with Lewis again for his future finance needs.

“I had no reservations about taking out finance with Valiant. I could afford the repayments, and I knew it was what I needed to do.”

The issue for Wayne was timing. Having funds quickly was essential to getting his business back on the road with minimal disruption to cash flow.

In fact, for many small businesses in Australia, a fast turnaround time is critical, and they can’t afford to be left waiting for a potential approval. Waiting weeks, or even months, simply isn’t an option.

Luckily, with Lewis’ help, Wayne was able to settle his loan enquiry within just three days.

“Keep your chin up and just get on with it” is Wayne’s mantra, and after working with him, it’s easy to see why he has been successful. Thanks Wayne for helping us beat Corona, while being so down to earth and great to work with.
